my hair is dirty blonde and I want to dye it so platinum it's almost white. I have pale skin and gray eyes (please don't tell me it wont work for my skin type because I have my mind made up). So... I would like to do it at home with a cheap dye but I'm afraid my hair will fall out or something.... any suggestions? Good dye brands, tips on bleaching blonde hair, etc.?

Theres a type of haircolor in a box called L'Oreal Couleur Experte that allows you to do all over color, and then you add in highlights. the box includes the highlight mix and applicator, and you place them where you like..

To make it natural, I wouldn't suggest too light of a blonde. Dark blonde to medium blonde tends to look more natural especially if your naturally a light brunette or so...and is easier to do yourself. Anything with "gold" in it turns out too gold or brassy usually, so avoid those. Also avoid any ash tones, as ash can be a hard tone to work with. I suggest just a neutral colour "Dark blonde" "irridescent blonde" but nothing "golden" or "ash".

Also, If your roots grow out too quick, I suggest just applying the blonde dye to the roots instead of adding in more highlights. People's hair grows out darker than what the ends are since the ends and mid length have seen more sun, etc. and that's usually how blondes and brunettes get natural highlights. So it can still look natural with slightly darker blonde roots

There are lots of shades of blonde. Im not sure which brand it is, but it has like 3 shades in one so its not just one color. my friend has used it and it looked like natural highlights from the sun. You can get it at target or walmart. :]

I decided in a random moment to dye my hair from its natural blonde to light brown. It looks ok but im missing being blonde and i have waited maybe 4 weeks waiting for it to fade. IS there a way i can get it back to blonde? Any ideas welcome and it dosnt really matter the cost cos im desperate!

go see a professional and have them remove the color and make you back to something close to your natural. it shouldn't be hard if it's just a light brown, and it's had time to fade like you said. Plus with your hair being short they can do what is called a "soap cap" with some bleach and probably be pretty good, then of course they have to tone it because it will be yellow from the bleaching. I wouldn't think that would cost too much because you have short hair-maybe $75ish (at the salon I work at I think that would be around the price) : )

i dont think you should soap cap it. long or short. just hilte your hair and leave the rest like it is. istead of any more damage to the hair, hilites help keep less damage all over.

Yes you can have your hair bleached. You might want a professional to do it though seeing how it'd be the second time you're putting hair coloring on, keep in mind hair is fragile. They can match it to what your natural hair color is (I know, I've had this done and IF it is done by someone who knows what they are doing it looks very natural.) Hair salons are often get this sort of thing, you are not the first person to have this happen to, so don't worry.

Be careful about bleaching your hair yourself though, you might end up with an odd color.

You can dye it back to blond. The ones that fade after a few weeks so it doesn't damage your hair........that much.

Hey- well.....there are two ways that youcan fix it. One- get a dyieing resolution to get the dye out and wash ur hair till it comes out. Or two: get it dyed blonde. But then you will not have ur natural blonde. I'd go with number one. GOOD LUCK!!

since you dyed ur hair light brown and u want to get back to blonde you can either dye it or you can avoid damaging hair you can wear a wig and wait for ur hair to wash away.

I'm so sorry. I have blonde hair too, and I would never dream of dying it though. If it makes you feel any better, you can fix it. Have the person who died your hair die it back. Go to her/him and ask them to die your hair it's natural color. Then cut it short, so that you can have the natural color grow back as quickly as possible.

the only way to get your hair back to its natural blonde color is to let it grow out, if you dont want to wait to grow it out, you have to have your hair bleached but i would go to a professional for that. youll never get it back to what it was unless you just let it grow.

i have long (goes to the bottom of my rib cage) stick straight blonde hair. i need new styles for:

1) Soccer, a ponytail doesnt work. it has to be semi-cute and keep the hair off my face.

2)Special occasions- like black and white tie weddings and events.

Soccer, split it down the middle and french braid both sides 1st from the top down to just above the middle of you head, and then from the bottom going up meeting the 1st, and then make a messy bun. Repeat on the other side. Kind of puts a twist on pigtails.

I have natural really blonde hair and I would like to add some red hightlights. I bought the Loreal wash out bright red and put in the under half of my hair. I liked it but it was really punk. I want something that looks WOW, different, but nice looking as well. Does any one have any suggetsions?

if your hair is naturally blonde then you probably don't have much orange or red pigment for the tint to mix with... if you really want something natural choose a strawberry blonde tone...if you want something punchy use a copper tone

Just buy a DIY semi-permanent dark blond hair dye. Look for brand like Clairol or l'Or鑼卆l. Your hair won't turn green, only chlorine can do this effect!

You're treading in scary water with this one. Okay, first....if your hair is damaged, and I'm sure it is with the Plat blonde color, take 2 weeks and condition the hell out of it. Then, buy what's called a rinse, it washes out immediately. Decide if you like the concept of the color...it won't be exact..just to give an idea. If you decide you like it use a box. I use Garnier Nutriesse...because of the avocado oil...very good for your hair. After you color your hair...again condition the hell out of it. Then leave it alone for as long as possible.

If you buy Maxiblonde by Miss Clarol, it will strip your hair of any color. For really black hair you may have to apply it twice. Then, you're hair will be bleached/stripped. Then, you should be able to color it the blonde you want to.

you need to bleach your hair first before trying any colour change as radical as that

now you have made a mess of it i would not advise you to bleach it yourself - as you appear to have very little knowledge on hair products - take yourself to a salon tomorrow

My cousin, a professional hair dresser, told me, when I did the same thing, to get a perm kit and use that solution to strip the dye out, then you can dye it whatever color you'd like! :)

Lesson well learned right? COLOR WILL NOT LIFT COLOR! BLACK CANNOT BE REMOVED BY COLOR. Black is the hardest color to remove.You need to either get it stripped out by a color remover or bleached. If you want to be blonde again do it gradually because if you do go to salon and want it right away they probably wouldnt do it because it will damage your hair soo bad and rule of thumb the faster you lift color the faster you damage it. So get it to at least a medium brown wait a couple of months condition it a lot and then go back to get it lighter. But please go to a salon.

This happens to most blondes, including me. Unfortunately, you cannot make it stop. If you don't want to color it, you can try spraying some lemon juice on it and then getting out in the sun for a while. You can also try some of the shampoos and conditioners especially for blondes that actually have a little color in them. But that's about it.

i recently dyed my hair blonde as i always do, and its a little to ash. what can i do to tone it to a more golden blonde without coloring it again?? ive already stopped using a toning shampoo that takes out the brassiness, but what else?

If you tone it again it will be darker. When 2 colors neutralize each other they neatralize to levels of brown. They don't neutralize to nothing.

You need to clear the palette, not add to it.

Mix a little bleach powder in some shampoo and add a cap or 2 of developer. Mix well. Shampoo your hair with it. Watch your hair as you shampoo. When enough of the ashiness is gone rinse and condition well.

your going to have to put a golden toner on it, so basically your coloring it again but if you get a toner usually you can get an ammonia free one so it wont damage your hair if that is what your worried about, otherwise it's going to stay ashy

This happens to most blondes, including me. Unfortunately, you cannot make it stop. If you don't want to color it, you can try spraying some lemon juice on it and then getting out in the sun for a while. You can also try some of the shampoos and conditioners especially for blondes that actually have a little color in them. But that's about it.

not at all it washes out in anywhere from 8 - 24 shampoos depending on the process you use (if you sit under a hair dryer or not, if you do it will stay in longer). won't hurt your hair at all

try brown first you can go darker later. if you go dark now, you will be dark until it washes out months later. it won't ruin it but it won't wash out in the next few months.

Use a henna or dye containing the words "TEMPORARY color or WASH OUT color"...that way it WILL come out if you don't like it!

Yes, my roots are darker than the rest of my hair and so is the layer underneath, towards my neck.

When I was smaller my hair was almost bleached blonde it was very light. But over the years it got darker and darker and in the winter it looks almost completely brown and in the summer it gets blonder with some very light streaks in it due to the sun bleaching it. I don't color my hair at all and never have.

i have pretty light blonde hair, and my roots are a little bit darker, but not like, drastically darker. it may be because if you're in the sun a lot, your hair will lighten, and the light doesn't hit that part of your hair.

I think your natural color is nicer. I am a brunette and not too long a go I highlighted my hair. I learned that I liked my natural colour (I hated the highlights) and I should not try to do anything to change myself because I was happier before I did anything to it. Hope I helped!

From the Pantene or John Freida drugstore brands (I prefer Pantene) they have color enhancing shampoo, conditioner, and hair lotion. It really does make a difference. They have it for blondes, brunettes, redheads, and black hair.

I use Pantene Conditioner in my hair and that after I wash that out in the shower I put in John Frieda color enhancing... after bout 2-3 weeks your hair will start getting lighter and lighter. Aldo squezze a lemon in your hair let it be i your hair for about 5 minuts then go into the shower and ash it out... this all makes your hair lighter

Hmm, you cant really do much with out dye. However you can try the old lemon trick. Just take a bit of lemon juice and run it threw your hair before you go out in the sun. It will dry your hair out a little though, but will make it allot lighter! You can also try buying one of those color enhancing hair shampoo's that help keep your hair shiny and bright. I have naturally blonde hair myself and i use Sun silk color boost for blonde hair. It actually makes my hair lighter and helps it shine in the sun!

You can spritz lemon into your hair and spend some time out in the sun to brighten it up. John Frieda's Blonde Colour Glaze is also nice, but beware if you should have greasy hair.

Black is a very difficult color to work with and remove.

Even if you try to reverse it, it will not only weaken your hair or cause breakage, but you could get a decidely blue shade to your blonde hair and no, it will not reverse to your own color.

Here's my suggestion: Snip a small sample of hair from the nape of your neck and color it black. Lay it on your forehead after it is processed and dry to see if you like it. If you don't no harm done. But if you do then you will have to wait until the black grows out to get the true blonde back.

I've done this before. To tell you the truth, when I dyed it black, it never went back to being as light of a blonde as I wanted. I dyed it black first; I wasn't happy with it, so I had to dye it a medium to light brown, and then three months later dye it back to a dark blonde. So unless you are 100% sure it will look good on you, don't waste your time.

Hi there. Use a semi permanent color (level 2). Don't use a level 3. Blonde is very hard to get (must bleach hair) after you dye your hair black. It can be done, but your hair is going to feel like straw afterwards. I went dark black from blonde and loved it! Now I have the salon dye it darkest brown and put a mahongany red gloss over the top at the bowl. My hair looks dark in the shade and red in the sun. Love it!

Ok first what happens is this: Dying hair darker with permanent hair color actually chemically changes your hair. You will need red pigment in your hair to prevent it from going green, then add the blue black color. Red pigment is not in blond hair, but is in darker hair.

What you need to understand is that going the other direction is difficult. You will need to bleach your hair or let it grow out. Red pigment is the smallest color in any hair and difficult to remove. Bleaching dark to light uses stronger peroxide and can probably damage your hair and make it become jelly.

I actually do not recommend lightening dark hair to light at all, it just does not look right, and it may go orange. The orange will have traces of red pigment, and lightening more to get rid of it can damage your hair.

However if you do want to try blue black, try semi permanent which does not chemically change your hair. You may need to have your hair red semi-permanent first, then apply the blue black color. Semi permanents wash out after about 6 to 8 washes, depending on your hair.

A safer way is to go to a wig shop and try on a wig (but don't buy it) to see what blue black looks like on you. This way you can decide whether to have color or not.

I recommend that you let a hairdresser do it to get the best results, after that it should be OK to do it on your own, just watch what they do to study the process.

if u do color it you will have a huge problem with your roots, and it will cost about 80-150 dollars every time its done, and you will have to go in at least every 3-6 weeks to get it touched up

it would probly take about two-three months to get it that color, and thats working with it consistantly.

i honeslty dont think its a good idea, because even after you get it done you going to have to keep going and getting it tocuhed back up, because your roots will be showing, and all that to your hair is alot of damange.

You may need to bleach your hair numerous times to get it that light, and you will need to re-dye it after bleaching with a demi-permanent colour with a violet base to counteract the yellow. Also keep in mind the amount of time and money you will spend on root touch ups; with dark hair you will notice roots very soon and will need to keep up with the colour on a regular basis. But, if you're willing to spend time and money and are serious about it, go for it! Be sure to go to a salon, it would be impossible to do at home.

Okay, this sounds really, really silly. I have NATURALLY white blonde hair. I am grown, and have been told it won't go darker like most hair does. My question is, why do people insist on TELLING ME my hair is dyed ? Yeah, telling me. Not asking haha. People spend a lot of money to get hair like yours. If people are teasing you, it's because they're jealous. You have to own that hair, and get a fabulous cut to show it off.

I do understand how hard it can be to have such a distinctive color, however. The salon clients who most want to change their hair color are those with beautiful blonde, red, or jet black hair because they're so sick of people commenting on it. You can find a stylist who will put a golden or beige demi-permanent glaze on it which will give it a beautiful (and different) tone and tremendous shine. Good Luck!

My mother's hair is the exact same color. I'm guessing that where you are, the population is darker. She got the same reaction when she moved to Connecticut (a lot of Southern Italians here with darker skin and hair than I, a Native American, have.) Just explain that's how people look in the part of the world your family comes from, and if they have anything else to say, tell them it's racist.

The reason most insist on the idea you bleached it is because that color is extremely rare--so much so that most people go their entire lives without seeing a natural example of it. My mother and aunt are two. so I know it happens naturally.

My cousin has the same situation. Just know that those people are probably jealous. You should carry a picture of yourself as a child and show your insisters that your hair has always been that color. People always demand to know where I get my hair highlighted. My hair is natural and that don't take that for an answer. I think it is funny that people think all pretty or unusual hair is dyed. I'm biased, but I've been both. I like the red better. The attention you get is more serious and more intense. The kind of men who approach me seem to have a lot more class and treat me as a lady.

I was thinking about using manic panic virgin snow toner and shimmer lights shampoo to get my hair to what i want. I use to have bleached blonde hair that I dyed pink and when I tryed to bleach it blonde again it washed out all the cuticle in my hair so it became just like jelly and fell out!

Your best bet is to either let it just grow out or to dye it a darker color I would say a brown/red because of all the pink and orange

You could then either leave your hair the white colour or use a different vegetable dye such as Crazy Color Platinum or STargazer White to get the desired shade. These are temp colours so will only last ba few washes or a few weeks depending on the brand/colour used.

Here's my problem. I have very dingy, dishwater blonde hair that is nearly light brown. I had professional highlights a year ago but just a light job of them. I think they're mostly gone now. I had a perm May 2006. I was going to go to a pro and have my hair dyed this weekend for a big event, however, I was laid off from my job yesterday so clearly I cannot afford color! My hairdresser refuses to give me any suggestions for an over the counter product from Walmart, Sally's or otherwise. I'd be fine with a wash out but she said when you go lighter blonde, many times the washout's never fade and you wind up with a "line" as your hair grows out. Is there anything out there I could buy that won't totally screw up my hair? I would just like to go to a pretty, light blonde. I'm afraid of what sun-in would do to my hair with the old perm in it. I've never tried it before and I'm also worried that I won't know what shade to buy. I'm not really brunette and I'm not really blonde!

I would try a Sally's lightining product b/c most of the hairdressers that work there have used them and would be able to tell you a safe way to apply it. Lemon juice just dries out the scalp and then you get Dandruff really bad. If your going to use peroxide then dilude it by adding it to your shampoo and shampoo twice instead of once... that way it won't hurt your hair as bad.

i combed in peroxide and rinsed 10-30 minute later and it got drastically lighter

I too am sometimes nervous about any changes I make to my hair so I spend the extra money to be safe. My husband thinks I spend too much time being concerned with my hair. It's a girl thing. if you have really light hair you normally have to dye it red 1st then brown ontop to get the colour right or it may go tingy green, if its just parts the brown may look lighter in places and you may need to do it twice. this however weakens your hair. if you go to a hairdresser they can do it right for you but if you do it at home, save some dye to go over lighter areas afterwards

A few weeks ago, i bleached my hair blonde on the top. Im not sure if i left it in too long, or too little amount of time. But the blonde came out more goldish than i wanted. I wanted it more not WHITISH but a lighter blonde because now its sort of orangy blonde and only light blonde in certain areas.

well, when it turns out orangy, its probably that you didnt leave the bleach on long enough, or you used too weak cream peroxide. My hair is DARK naturally, I have to use 40 volume peroxide to get it light enough, takes away from the orangeness. If you are going to try lightening it again, you could avoid the powder bleach, and get a pale neutral blonde haircolor in a box, mixed with 40 volume, and use a color brush and put it on here and there.. or use a toothbrush. It should get rid of the orange, and be easier on your hair. The powder bleach is whats hard on hair. good luck

Or, apply a texturizing spray and mousse, dry hair completely and use hot roller, which work in about 10-15 minutes. Finish with hairspray to hold the look in place.

Its much more difficult for all one-length straight hair to hold a curl. I also have long straight hair, and before I got my long layers, my hair didn't hold a curl at all.

The only reason I'm against blonde hair on women of color is because it doesn't look natural. I think that black women look ridiculous with blonde hair. Black people were all meant to have dark hair and dark eyes and anything else on them just looks out of place. And dont even get me started on black people that wear blue and green eye contacts. Well, in the end it's your choice but I think that if you've got naturally dark hair anyway then going to bleached blonde might be a bit dramatic. It'll also cause you hair A LOT of damage, and I mean a lot. Especially 'cause you'll have to keep getting the roots touched up because you'll get a dark line. Your hair won't be in the best condition, and I would imagine you use heated products on it too (straightners, curling tongs, hair dryers etc..)?

Another important thing to remember is the fact that your eyebrows will be dark and it's really unnatural if you've got white-blonde hair with dark eyebrows.

So just think about all that. And by the way, true blonde isn't necessarily Barbie blonde.. it can be quite dark too!

May be you could go for blonde highlights with your natural brown hair or you could just go for a slightly darker blonde?
